How Frogtab keeps me focused on today's priorities
Frogtab is a lightweight task manager I'm building for fun. In this post I'll share how Frogtab helps me collect, organize, and do my day-to-day tasks.1
Collect — As soon as a thought/task comes to mind, I add it to my Frogtab inbox (assuming I can't immediately process it).
Organize — Whenever there's anything in my inbox, Frogtab's favicon has a notification badge. Frogtab is pinned in my main browser window, so this is a handy reminder for me to triage my inbox. Triaging involves:
- Just doing the thing and deleting it from my inbox (ideal!)
- Moving the thing to the Today box if I want to work on it today
- Moving the thing outside Frogtab, e.g., to a meeting agenda
- Or writing
#
in front of the thing to "snooze" it until tomorrow
After I've finished triaging, the notification badge goes away 😌
Do — Now I can fully focus on whatever's in my Today box. I simply delete tasks from my Today box as I complete them.
At the end of the day, if there's anything left in my Today box, Frogtab automatically moves it back to my inbox for re-triaging the next day. And the cycle starts again!
My approach has definitely been influenced by Carl Pullein.↩
